We’ve put together a definitive list of plus size Brazilian models! These women are not only stunningly curvy, but many are also truly “revered” as role models for bigger women, both in Brazil and in many cases, beyond.

Fluvia Lacerda

Often hailed as the “plus size Gisele Bündchen,” Fluvia Lacerda is really, the global icon when it comes to Brazilian curves. Her rise to fame is the stuff of fashion legend: discovered by a magazine editor while riding a bus in Manhattan, she transitioned from working as a nanny to becoming a world-renowned model at the age of 23.

Fluvia became one of the first plus size models to grace the cover of Vogue Italia. By working with major global retailers like Torrid and Kmart, as well as high-end designers like Igigi, she proved that high fashion and commercial appeal are not restricted by size.

In her native Brazil, Fluvia’s impact has been simply massive. By partnering with leading national retailers like Marisa, she helped bridge the gap between international industry standards and the Brazilian market. Her contribution to trends lies in her refusal to be defined by traditional modeling constraints, instead advocating for the idea that beauty exists in diverse forms. Now in her forties, she continues to inspire a new generation of Brazilian models by maintaining a high-fashion presence that emphasizes confidence and sophisticated style, cementing her legacy as an “OG” who brought Brazilian curves to the global stage.

Dinalva Vasconcelos

Dinalva Vasconcelos represents the modern evolution of the Brazilian plus size influencer, blending fashion with a distinct focus on fitness.

Hailing from Teresina, Brazil, Dinalva rapidly built a massive social following by showcasing a more athletic and active plus size figure.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional modeling, she leveraged her influence to work with a diverse range of brands, from lifestyle names like Cotton On Brazil to specialized labels like Bubali Bikini Official, highlighting that curve fashion is versatile and functional.

Dinalva’s contribution to Brazilian trends is perhaps most visible through her entrepreneurial spirit. By founding her own clothing brand, Dmoda Fachion, she has moved beyond being just a face for other labels to becoming a trendsetter in her own right. Her brand focuses on providing stylish, trendy outfits that empower women to embrace their frames.

By integrating fitness into her personal brand, Dinalva has helped shift the conversation in Brazil away from just “modeling” and toward a more holistic view of the “active curve” lifestyle.

Victoria Matos

Victoria Matos, hailing from Rio de Janiero, has emerged as the digital powerhouse of plus size Brazilian women, leveraging the power of social media to build an immense global following.

Unlike the traditional editorial path, Victoria’s rise was fueled by her ability to connect directly with fans through her content celebrating her “curvas perigosas” (dangerous curves). This direct-to-consumer influence made her a highly sought after partner for major international brands like Fashion Nova Curve.

Her contribution to Brazilian plus size trends is defined by a shift toward “body-con” aesthetics and high-glamour streetwear. Victoria has been instrumental in moving the conversation away from “hiding” the body and toward emphasizing and celebrating a dramatic silhouette.

Letticia Munniz

A high-profile curve model and activist, Letticia has become a fixture on the runways of São Paulo Fashion Week, walking for major brands like Apartamento 03 and LED. She is widely celebrated for her “all-natural” approach to beauty, using her massive social media presence to promote body positivity and self-acceptance.

Rita Carreira

Rita is a pioneer in the industry, making history in 2020 as the first plus size model to appear on the cover of Vogue Brazil. As a prominent spokesperson for the “Free Body” movement, she has starred in major campaigns for international brands like TRESemmé and O Boticário.

Ju Romano

A journalist and fashion blogger, Ju Romano gained global attention as the first plus size model on the cover of ELLE Brazil. Her blog, Entre Topetes e Vinis, focuses on the freedom of making personal body decisions and has inspired a generation to move past unrealistic “perfection” standards.

Alexandra Gurgel

As the founder of the Movimento Corpo Livre (Free Body Movement), Alexandra is one of Brazil’s most influential activists against “gordofobia” (fatphobia). She is a best-selling author and journalist whose work focuses on the intersection of mental health, feminist theory, and radical self-love.

Mariana Xavier

A popular actress and digital influencer, Mariana uses her platform to challenge societal norms around body image through humor and relatability. She is a vocal advocate for “real beauty,” frequently sharing insights on how to navigate the entertainment industry without conforming to traditional size standards.

Babu Carreira

Babu is a comedian and content creator who brings a unique, satirical lens to the plus size fashion and lifestyle space. By blending entertainment with body neutrality, she fosters a community focused on confidence and the dismantling of social taboos through storytelling.

Raissa Galvão (Rayneon)

Known for her bold, colorful aesthetic, Raissa is a designer and journalist who specializes in fashion customization. She encourages her followers to embrace creative self expression and visibility, often using neon palettes and DIY styles to redefine what it means, in her words, to be “fat and fashionable.”

Mayara Russi

It should come as no surprise that we left the best til last, in our opinion. Mayara Russi is, by measurements, the largest mainstream plus size model ever. She stands out from other Brazilians on this list due to her sheer size.

Mayara Russi’s weight is well documented in our dedicated post to her, but at her heaviest she weighed around 375lbs, or 174kg.

In early 2025, Mayara announced she would be using a weight loss drug. She didn’t want to have surgery, and decided this would be the best option for her.

This decision caused some outrage among her fans online, as she’d previously been against weight loss surgery based on her posts on social media, but was fine to take another shortcut in the form of the drug.

Still, there is no denying Mayara is one of the real “OGs” of the Brazilian plus size model movement.
