Brittany Price is one of my favorite influencers out there. Not afraid to be herself, she’s a taller plus size woman who inspires thousands with her daily OOTD fits. Obviously, she’s got some great fashion tips, and I also really enjoyed talking to her about her general fat-positive outlook.

HSR: You’re a glowing woman, at 5’8” and a 24/26! Do you feel there are stigmas around being tall and plus size?

The only thing I can think of is someone thinking I cannot do something because I am fat. I can do it, I just might do it differently but I can do it. Sit back and watch me.

HSR: Has there been a time, in your professional career or personal life, when you’ve benefited from being tall and plus size?

As well as always having to help everyone reach the top shelf of anything (ha!), INSTAGRAM! The amount of women that have messaged me saying what it has been to them seeing a body that looks like theirs. That is why I started taking pictures of my outfits everyday. I was not seeing what plus size women with my body type wore everyday so I did it. Getting those messages from them means everything to me. I know how it feels to see someone with a body like yours.

HSR: I’ve noticed that, like me, you will refer to yourself as ‘fat.’ When and how did you become comfortable with this?

I have always been ok with the word fat. I have always just called it as it is. I am fat, I never understood why people would get so mad when I would call myself fat. I’m like I didn’t say I was ugly or stupid, I just said I’m fat.

HSR: Who were some of your idols growing up? This can be plus size women, tall women, or anyone with any body!!

I was born in ‘87, so I grew up in the 90’s and 2000’s. I always looked up to Britney Spears, Kate Hudson, Hilary Duff, Tiffany Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell), I NEVER EVER saw people that had a body like mine. That is why my page is so important to me. I remember the first time I saw someone on the internet that looked like me. I was in my twenties and she was an influencer at that time, Jessica Kane. Everything changed for me.

HSR: In your opinion, do you find women with a similar physical body type more relatable as idols/role models? i.e celebrities, influencers

YES!!!! Seeing someone that looks like you is a game changer! I went the majority of life never seeing someone that looked like me in the media. Then I did and I found this amazing community. Seeing someone that looks like you is , I don’t think I can even think of  the word for it. They understand things about your body that no one else does. Also seeing what something would be like on a body that looks like yours is so amazing! I think it’s so important to see bodies that look like yours, and I feel like I do  not have words for it.

HSR: If you could give any advice to your younger self about body image, what would it be?

You are still that bi*ch. Always shine baby!

HSR: We know we draw a lot of attention as tall, plus size women. What are some of the common and annoying things guys have said to you regarding your physical appearance, whether it be pick up lines or just being rude?

I feel like I ignore a lot of these so thankfully none are sticking out to me. One thing I get a lot though is that my belly is bigger than butt. Ok and…? Get a life.

Fashion

HSR: What’s the hardest piece of clothing to find for your tall, plus size body? And is there anywhere you’d recommend finding that piece?

Sometimes I think it’s hard to find basic things in stores. One time I had plans after work but I wanted some leggings. So I ran to Target after work to get a pair and I could not find one pair of leggings in Target that would fit me. I just want to be able to go to a store and find leggings, or a tank top. That being said, I think Torrid does a great job of this. IF you have a Torrid local to you, but their prices are not always very affordable. Walmart does an ok job of this though, but I have found that you need to be by a bigger Walmart. The Walmart in my town is very small and offers no plus size at all. So I still think there is a lot of work to be done in this area. We should be able to go into any store and buy basic things like socks, underwear, bras, tank tops and not pay insanely high prices.

HSR: You’ve done some work with Torrid and often post amazing fits from there. I feel like I’m weirdly in the minority of fat girls who actually think they design clothes really well, and their long sizes really work for my height, too. Do you think Torrid’s having a bit of a resurgence?

So I have always loved Torrid. I remember the first time I tried on a pair of jeans from Torrid and they fit me perfectly. That had never happened in my life. I fell in love that day and I have around 40 pairs of jeans (it’s ridiculous I know) but I would say 35 of them are Torrid.

Ok back to this question ( I like talking and could go on and on)

I think they can be hit or miss in their designs and cuts of clothing. All about personal preference. I do think they do a really good job with that. They make stuff for a lot of people. I love that you can get tunic tank tops there, for me those are my normal tank tops! Tank tops my whole life had always been like crop tops on me so finding those were a real game changer. I do feel like they could make their prices more affordable, $90 for a maxi dress??? Get real! People do not have money like that. Also I wish they had more models above a size 24 on their website. I am a size 26 and clothes look very different on me than  they do someone that is a size 18 or even a 20. Ok I think that is all I have for that one!

HSR: What brands/designers do you trust to frequently deliver for taller, plus size bodies?

Torrid and Target (but online only, my Target’s never have anything in store)

HSR: Your dress game is always on point! Recommendations for where to find great dresses?

GIRLLLLL! I LOVEEEE DRESSES! Honestly I could wear them every single day, but I have to check myself and wear other things.

Target has great dresses and always a good selection so you can wear them to work. Torrid and Lane Bryant have good ones but their price points can be a little higher so I always wait for sales.

HSR: Define your style.

I have been thinking about this one so much lately because I keep seeing those videos on TikTok of things I wore when I was trying to find my style. They make me think I don’t think I have style. Because I just wear whatever I like that day, who do I feel like I wanna be. A Grandma? A sexy goddess? A basic girl?  I wake up everyday and having no idea what I will be that day and that is just how I get dressed that day.
